Top 10 Reasons to Attend NBTA

Many industry newbies ask me, “TD, should I attend NBTA? Will it benefit my career?” For the travel veterans, however, forget about it – they’ve already booked their plans for 2011 in Denver and 2012 in Phoenix. Whichever side of the fence you fall on, it makes sense to take a step back and really look at the ROI to you personally. What better way to do this, than to look at:

Tony D’s Top 10 Reasons to Attend NBTA

10. The faceoff: Richard Branson (in a hot air balloon) challenging Lance Armstrong (on a bike) to a race around the world

9. Bikram yoga in a studio is too confining. Only Houston in August gives you the right mix of 100 degree heat and 98% humidity to do your downward dog anywhere in public

8. After seeing the new NBTA website, you were sold

7. To see Mike Daly in a white dinner jacket

6. Limo companies throw great parties

5. To win an iPad[1]

4. It’s just too hard to interact with 5,500 colleagues and peers via a web conference or Facebook/LinkedIn status updates

3. You need to do laundry and your only clean shirts are company polos

2. Two words, “chips” and “queso” or, if you are a newbie, “shrimp” and “cocktails”

And the number one reason why you should attend the 2010 NBTA 2010 NBTA International Convention & Exposition in Houston, Texas. . .

1. Everything is bigger in Texas (and don’t forget to stop by our booth, #1673, and have me tell you my joke about the Texan who walks into a bar after his first baby was born)

[1]NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.  A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.  See Official Rules available at for complete details. Contest is open only to registered attendees of the 2010 NBTA International Convention & Exposition, Houston, Texas (August 8-11, 2010) who are 18 years of age or older. To enter, be present at the Rearden Commerce booth (Booth No. 1673) at the convention at the top of the hour during any hour that the convention is open (excluding the opening hour of the convention). Void where prohibited.  Employees of Rearden Commerce, Inc., ExpenseWire LLC or Global Ground Automation, Inc., and their immediate families and individuals living in the same household are ineligible.

I’d like to announce that the white dinner jacket is safely back from the cleaners and ready to go!
