Do you know where your children are?

It’s a Thursday night in the summer and it just turned 10PM.   Do you know where your teenagers are?

If your kids are anything like my soon to be 18 year old daughter and her friends affectionately known as “The Snookers,” they are watching the latest installment of the MTV hit show The Jersey Shore.  And who can blame them. We’ve mentioned this MTV classic before on the blog, and if you haven’t checked it out yet you should.  I haven’t figured out why millions of fans all over the country tune in each week with great anticipation for the latest episode of what has to be the worst that TV has to offer, but they do, and I have to admit, I’m hooked as well. The kids let the old man hang, in part because I think they get a kick out of asking “did you ever do that when you were a young Guido in Queens,”  and I then regale them with stories of my prowess on the Disco dance floor or my close encounter with the Son of Sam (true story).

Since they are all Carrying On regulars and headed off to college in a month or so, I wanted to give a shout out to my daughter Ally and her friends Taryn, Allie, Tommy, Peter, Nitasha, and Katie.  Pops says it’s better to be watching The Jersey Shore than to be living it, and if I ever catch any of your hanging out with The Situation, I’ll kill you. Good luck, do good in school, and stay away from the tanning beds.
